Antigua and Barbuda drafting Bitcoin Laws to Drive Adoption

The Bitcoin Domino effect has reached the Caribbean!   News just out – Antigua and Barbuda drafting new laws implementing Bitcoin in the twin-island country.   Following on from latest news out of Japan making Bitcoin a Legal Payment System from 1 April 2017; Malta’s PM approving draft strategy Bitcoin and Blockchain adoption as well as recently reported, India making plans to legalize Bitcoin and Russia setting investigation in motion.  

 

 

“The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has instructed their Attorney General, Steadroy Benjamin, “to draft laws for the implementation of Bitcoin,” reports the Antigua Observer. Antigua and Barbuda is a Commonwealth nation located in the Caribbean Sea, east of Puerto Rico. The move follows the Cabinet’s meeting with a group connected with the Antigua Leisure and Gaming Association on Wednesday, the publication describes, adding that Bitcoin was discussed as “a new method of transacting the sale of goods and services.”   Read the full article
